Hi
My 14 year old son started feeling ill last week, dizzy, sick and hot.
Then then he started to get a lump of green mucous stuck to the back of his throat which is causing him to gag and he says it smells and tastes funny.
This is really unpleasant for him as he cannot keep anything down and has lost nearly a stone in a week.
His stools are runny and green and he gets a temperature every so often and just seems to pass out where he is so weak at intervals during the day.

I have taken him to the doctors twice already and I am just being told that it's a viral infection.
He was a bit anaemic a couple of months back and I am really worried that he will just fade away.

What do you suggest Id do for him?
Thanks

I presume you're in England, dealing with the National Health service. If he's lost 14 pounds in 1 week I'd be a bit worried. He may have a viral syndrome... or sinusitis. If he isn't better by now... take him back to the first doctor you saw. Shopping from doctor to doctor can cause a doctor to miss the fact that he's not improving as he should be with time.

I agree with antymay because when I had sinusitus I had all of the symptoms that your boy is experiencing but not quite as bad. Since you situation sounds a little worse than mine I do think it has to be viral. Makes sure that your son is taking medication and can hold food down and still keep an eye on his temperature. If he does not get better soon take him back to the doctor and let them know that he is still feeling bad.
