I just got a Newfoundland purebred puppy and the breeder told me up front that he has a urinary problem. He drinks constantly and pees almost immediately with no warning and continuously until its gone then he's immediately thirsty again, he drinks almost until vomiting. He's 7 weeks old. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

I am going to skip the issue of buying a puppy with a known problem.
Find out all you can from the breeder. Do the parents have the problem, siblings? Have they seen it in other litters for either parent? Take what you know to your own vet.

Hopefully, you received a guarantee on this little guy-take him to your vet for an evaulation. If the problem is genetic, you are entitled to a full refund or another puppy. Otherwise, we can hope it is a simple infection that will clear up with meds.

You should be able to find a newfounland rescue site on the web... maybe they could lend you some answers.. or point you in the right direction.. and thanks for caring enough to take a puppy that you knew had problems. I'm sure you will find a way to help resolve some of its problems. Good luck
