I almost posted this under "Pets" then I realized I am asking more about you than your pet.

What kind of pet do you have and what makes him/her/it so special? I have 2 dogs and a cat but my favorite is Gizmo. The photo below is from our Patty's Day photoshoot. My husband thinks I am nutz for spending time dressing them up for the holidays and trying to make them stand still for photos. I figure what is the point of having a small dog if you don't have fun?

Gizmo is Pekingnese and I found him and his brother, Java, at the SPCA last summer.

The reason he is my favorite is that he is soooooooo happy to see me whether it has been 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days. The longer I have been absent the longer he performs the "happy dog dance!" He prances around with excitement to see me. It gives me quite a lift when I have had to work, then go to dance practice w/daughter then pick up son after work, etc. etc. etc.

I would love to hear about you and yours!

Wow! Thirty-something views and nobody has a cool pet. That's a shame. I have a cat, an adopted cat, that was originally to be my wife's. She has been through sooo many doctors and hospitals ( second time diagnosed stage four lung cancer ), I wanted her to have something to sit in her lap when she felt down. Well, she named the cat: "Little Girl," and that was about it for her and the cat. Now, Lil' Girl greets me at the foot of the bed every morning when I even move to get up, follows me from room to room ( pretends to hide if I too quickly turn back ) And, I'm told, she knows the sound my truck makes coming into the driveway... I don't think there's anything wrong with any of that...

A cat I had years ago used to recognize the sound of my car. I would see him running across the yard coming to meet me at the end of the day.

My little girl is strickly indoor. Flee free! We lived in New Hampshire for years and happened to lose one beautiful white long-hair to an owl that lived nearby. Now. Here in Fla, it's gators and hawks I'm concerned about. She used to love to prowl at night, but not more, she loves her home.

This will not be news for anybody that spends much time in the dog forum. Right now, we have 2 female yellow Labs. Holly is almost 9 months old. What makes her very special is that after she is a year old, she will go to a service dog school for her training to assist one of a number of impairments other than the visually impaired. She has a service dog tag allowing us to take her almost every place we go.

We also raised Aster, our other dog, who spent about 9 of her 13 1/2 years training and working as a dog guide.

That's Kimmie, she is special because she smiles, but folks that don't know her think she is quite frightening. She is just one of 3 canine my burglar alarms!!

LOL, she is either Labradobe or Rott-n-lab.

Believe it or not, that is really her smile, she will do it if you ask her to smile. And she has NEVER barked. NEVER EVER barked!!

She is the sweetest most loveable big ole lapdog you will ever see!!

It is funny though when people who don't know my dogs come up to my house and see Kimmie, Mick, and Lou sitting at the front door, they stay way back in the driveway until I come out.

They make the best home defense team I have ever known.

Rott-n-lab! I love it! That describes my late dad's 2 yellow labs, though. Spoiled rotten, that is.

Well, actually it is a mix of Rottweiler and Labrador = Rott-n-lab

or Labrador and Doberman = Labradobe

We just don't know which of these mixtures she is... She was a rescue dog we rescued at 13 weeks of age, she weighted 4 pounds now weights 104

I love the combination names. Like Beagle + Poodle = Boogle, etc. Have you seen the Maxine cartoon that asks "If you breed a Bulldog with a Sh*tzu do you get a Bullsh*t?"

I'd post the cartoon, but wouldn't want to offend anyone!

LOL to Magprob... and J_9 what a cutie you have as does everyone else! I have 7 dogs and upon trying to load the pics the format is too big, go figure!

Most of mine are Siberian Huskies( Natasha, Adidas, Elka and Abby) The Malamute is Simba. The Mut is Jasper and the Sheltie is Roxy... by far my favorite as they were rescue dogs (their undying love and affection as well as loyalty is amazing) Each day they all bring a smile to my face!

. Gizmo:chi/rat terrier mix he was so abused and skinny when we first rescued him , but almost 2 yrs later he is the amusement in our house, always way playing. How anyone could be sad or angry around him is my guess and he is quiet the fashion king. Nika: pom/doxie mix she is our queen adopted from a rescue shelter 4 years ago had broken jaws teeth missing only 1 year old... get the keys or leash out.. say you want to go for a ride? Walk? You'd think she was a puppy she gets so excited. Tom: tiger striped cat adopted me... let him in my house 1 December snowy nite/ he refused to leave that was 11 years ago... later found out neighbors up the street got angry with him took off his collar and threw him out in the snow.. he is a temperamental dude and huge for a cat! Baby: 3 years old manx type black and white cat.found under a car in the middle of the road.. always amusing us, tries her best to catch the worms in the dewey evenings, we sit on the porch and watch her for hours. 2 rescued black twin kittens... 1 tried to bit a whole through my finger when I first found them. 3 weeks later gentle as a lamb. As of this moment several tadpoles and a black eastern starling... hopefully the last 2 will fly and swim away soon. Duke : no longer with us but he was my first rescued dog... I had never had a dog until him, actually did not like them or so I thought, but when that little bearded face peeped around that bank driv-thru corner at me... my heart melted... I loaded him and his stinky little self in my car and took him home. I must thank him for being so cute and loving and showing me how to love without expectations... sadly his is gone from my life but never from my heart. If I could own all of the dogs that I wanted It would be incredible... taking care of my animals is pure joy, the best form of theraphy, and the greastest kind entertainment. When my dear kids show their computer challenged mom how to post pictures I will show off my fine bunch of furry loving fun.

Haha. That hillarious!:p
Lol that was funny

My heart melts.. beautiful

I have 4 fish, 3 cats, and a happy puppy boy...

They are all the product of a sob story, and I am a big sucker. The first cat is Gato, she is old, crabby, and anti-social (with other animals). She believes she is queen of the house and can do anything she wants. She is just like me, except for the anti-social part. Then there is Artemis, she will be 2 soon. She was rescued a couple Decembers ago by a friend of mine. She wasn't weaned and her mother was no where to be found. She has long gray hair (with about 10 white hairs on her backside), is extremely lovable, and cannot meow. Every now and then she will make a chirping sound, but that is only when she is in heat. Any other time she cannot make a sound. Little does she know she is about to be spayed, don't tell her she will be frightened. Then there is Kimura, he is named after the Jiu-jitsu submission, he is quite a grappler. He will be 1 next month, and he is still very much a kitten. He looks just like Morris, and acts like the devil. He is so lovable, yet he is such a butthole. He is evil and has personality pouring out of him. He loves carrot juice and Artemis. They are married I think?? They spend their days cuddled together on loveseat licking each other and sleeping. Kimura likes to annoy Gato, and he can make her hiss in less than 30 secs in the same room together. He will jump on her from the bed and she will not be amused. He is quite the jumper, there is no where he can't go, and he loves to play in the potty.

Then there is Cash, like Johnny Cash without the Johnny. He will also be one next month, and he is a Collie. He and Kimura spend their time fighting about who the boss of the house is, and then I let them know it is me. He spends his days barking at the cats, and the neighbors, and the squirrels, and the birds, and the kids. Oh and sometimes he barks if we laugh too loud or talk too much. He really likes people to know he can bark. He also likes to break his leash or collar and go running wild through the neighborhood. He likes me to run around and chase him for blocks until I get tired, he especially likes to do this on his morning venture outside to potty, right before I go to work. He hates the vet, and hasn't been the same since the last visit. He feels a little violated after the poo poo test. It turns out the poor puppy boy had hookworms, but we are all better now. He hates the heartworm tablets, he will eat anything non-food but won't eat a heartworm tab. He likes to tick the neighbors off and scare older dogs with his juvenile behavior.

The fish are all a sob story too, they were going to get fished out of a pond to die due to overcrowding. They were babies, and now they are 3. They are special, because they are off spring of the fish I bought my dad for his last father's day. They are Sarassa Comets, and one has a bright red top lip just like his mom.

Well, that sums up my zoo, all except the kids.
