I have a beautiful cherry blossom tree in my backyard. The tree is located in somewhat of a bad spot though. It hangs right over my deck... with parts over my grill area and close to the edge of my house. Since I have no green thumb or idea I am posting here for some help.

I have to cut a big branch off to trim the tree back. I feel horrible getting rid of the branch and was wondering if there was anything I could do with it. Is it possible to plant the branch I cut off and have it grow in a different area? I think my question is silly... but if there is a way to not have to discard of this branch I would love to know since it is such a wonderful sight.

Thank You

Your big old brach is probably not going to root itself. But, a smaller younger branch might.

The branch that you have cut off may have some value to a wood worker or wood carver.
