It's possible this is a software problem.

Try the printer on a different computer.

I had the same problem on the same printer, the "Brand New" printer cartridge was dry, bought another and now works fine.

The print head is faulty.

The print head holds the ink cartidges. You can attempt to clean the print head contacts with a isopropyl solution. However, that didn't work with my 2100.

You can buy a new print head for ~42$ and continue to have the same problem occasionally. Alternatively you can buy a new printer (other than the 2100 of course).

This is the first canon product I have had a problem with. I'll give them one more chance. :-/

Good luck.

I have the same problem. The printer sounds like it is printing but there is nothing on the page. Did you resolve the problem?

Hi,
Here is a link:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax/browse_thread/thread/5108ccff4e27fb1a/b5d840844f1446e8%23b5d840844f1446e8?sa=X&oi=groupsr&start=0&num=3

The above gives some good suggestions as to this specific printer. Sounds like it has more than it's share of problems!
Another answer suggested buying a new printhead, and the above suggests the same, as it can go out in just 5 months.
My suggestion would be to buy a different printer, and call this one a mistake!
Walmart, and other larger department stores offer good values on Epson, and others.
I do wish you the best of luck.
