The methods described on the following sites will help you to accomplish your goal of putting what is on a cassette onto a CD. You need to get the information into your computer first. Then, burn the information onto a CD. These ways are better than using a microphone hooked up to your computer and recording what is on the cassette into whatever audio program you have on your computer. I have also wondered how to do this easily.

I also know of digital recorders out there. But, the ones that I know about cost the earth and are what you might use to record music performances and then put the recordings directly onto a CD. I think that you still have to hook these devices up to a computer first in order to record onto a CD. But, I may be incorrect about that.

I am sure that others will provide their answers and ideas to your post.
