My little sister is a hair puller and I have noticed on the end of the roots of some of the pulled out hairs a clear waxy like substance that appears wet to the touch and I was wondering if this could be the sign of a scalp problem that may be causing itching or irritation and she is pulling the hair out in an attempt to get some relief? Well, If you pull a hair out fast enough, the root will come out with the hair. This happens to me too. If you pull the hairs by the front of your head super fast,you will get a fat,waxy, root every time! Anyway this isn't a scalp infection, just the hair root. And if the root has a black dot on the end of it, its just the bulb of the hair(the place that connects your hair to your follicle). Hope this helped!
