Hi!

My toilet makes these sounds when its not in use. This happens maybe every 10-15 minutes for about 2-3 seconds. And the sounds only occur in 1 toilet in my house. It sounds as like something is bottled up wants to bust out - as if a devil is blowing off steam. When the sound occurs, tiny bubbles are present.

What is happening and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks!

I think your flapper is leaking water out of the tank. Eventually the ballcock is low enough to add more water. Check the flapper for an uneven or wavy edge. Check the seat for nicks or rough spots since your leaking is between these two objects.

Thanks ballengerb1. I looked at it closely and I think you're right. In testing it, every time I pushed down the ballcock, it makes that sound and bubbles appear near funnel tube. Sorry, I don't know the proper terminology.

Bubbles works. If the flapper is bad you are looking at $3-4 with almost no labor. If the seat is bad you face quite a bit of labor and a slight danger or cracking the tank during re-installation. If you need to replace the seat come back, there are many who can give you advice.
