Can someone please tell me a way out of a lease? I took on a lease in October for the amount of $1500 plus utilities? I have gotten behind because Im the only one in my home that is paying the rent. I actually have 2 roomates but they have proven to be unreliable and Im not making enough to continue this. My landlord refuses to let me out of the lease even though she knows I can't afford to continue paying this amount on my own. She would rather take me to court and sue me for money she knows I don't have. Please help me out of this. At the moment I have bounced a check because I asked her to please wait to be sure all funds have cleared and she refuses. I can't find anyone to take over the lease. If she slaps me with a judgement, I will never be able to rent again. Im about ready to tell this woman to screw off and up and leave. There has to be a way out of this.

Look in the phone book and find out if you have anyone to call about this. There might be something like Landlord laws or go on line. Do it ASAP. You might put an add craigslist or go down to the rental companies and ask if they have someone to rent it from under you. You might even ask them the same question about how to break the lease. Your landlady is a jerk. She is being very difficult. If not then find some roomates anyway you can and try to get a back ground check if it is someone you don't know. Just be careful.
