Since Trump's 1st term the Dems have openly called for ending the balance of power by threatening to change SCOTUS ; end the Electoral College ; and doing away with Senate restraints like filibuster . While they had Dems in the executive branch they wanted and mostly got an imperial Presidency.
During Trump's 1st term they relied on the restraints they have tried to abolish. They openly used the courts and Congress against what they called his instinct to be a dictator while ignoring the executive over reach of both the emperor and Clueless Joe.
While they have railed against SCOTUS for decisions that favor Trump they largely overlook the times when Trump appointees have joined decisions against Trump's interests .
An example would be when Gorsuch and Kavanaugh went against him when he challenged the release of his tax returns . The Trump appointees consistently rejected his challenges to the 2020 election.
He has begged the courts for years to loosen liability requirements against the 1st amendment so he can successfully sue a number of news outlets.
The Dems may even begin to appreciate SCOTUS rejection of the Chevron precedence that deferred to the administrative state now that Trump is at the helm of the administrative state .
