Tim Wu ;who was a special assistant to Clueless Joe wrote an op-ed in the Slimes arguing that the 1st amendment is "out of control "

Opinion | The NetChoice Decision Shows the First Amendment Is Out of Control - The New York Times (nytimes.com) (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/02/opinion/supreme-court-netchoice-free-speech.html)

What does that even mean ?

The judiciary needs to realize that the First Amendment is spinning out of control. It is beginning to threaten many of the essential jobs of the state, such as protecting national security and the safety and privacy of its citizens.

ummmm yeah about that .... the framers added the 1st amendment to protect the people from the state ;not the other way around .

Over the past decade or two, however, liberal as well as conservative judges and justices have extended the First Amendment to protect nearly anything that can be called speech,

ummmm yeah about that .... that is why it is called "freedom of speech"

In our era, the power of private entities has grown to rival that of nation-states. Most powerful are the Big Tech platforms, which in their cocoonlike encompassing of humanity have grown to control commerce and speech in ways that would make totalitarian states jealous. In a democracy, the people ought to have the right to react to and control such private power, as long as it does not trample on the rights of individuals.
But thanks to the Supreme Court, the First Amendment has become a barrier to the government’s ability to do that.

This is a complete lie. What the government has done is to collude with these information platforms to censor and trample on the rights of anyone who opposes them or has a different point of view . What we need is more 1st amendment not less .

What is surprising here is not that those kinds of ideas have found a home in much of the federal government. The surprise is his willingness to let the cat out of the bag in the way he did.

justices have extended the First Amendment to protect nearly anything that can be called speech,It's hard to imagine how that could be looked on as a negative.

the First Amendment is spinning out of control. It is beginning to threaten many of the essential jobs of the state,Another good thing. Free speech should be seen as an essential limit on these jobs this person considers to be "essential". I think he has it backwards.

We now know that the WH has been feeding the compliant press questions to ask Joe during interviews. Two radio hosts confirmed it. We don't know how many accepted the questions .

We now know that the WH has been feeding the compliant press questions to ask Joe during interviews. Two radio hosts confirmed it. We don't know how many accepted the questions .When I read items like this, I sometimes try to imagine what the response would be if it was Trump receiving these unethical advantages. I think it would be outrage as opposed to the relatively mild response concerning Biden.

I am torn between humor and sadness. Did you see that the WH gives detailed instructions to event planners about minute details for a Joe appearance . Some of the details are pre-planned illustrated instructions about how he enters and where he is to stand as if this were a Broadway play.( with captions including, "Walk to podium.")

How do you know an authoritarian ? Well one indicator is that they think they are more important than the position they were elected to serve .

"I know I'm not a young man. I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to".......

That is Joe sorta admitting to his decline

'I don't debate as well as I used to': Biden tries to move on from his tough debate at an energized rally (nbcnews.com) (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/-get-back-biden-parlays-disappointing-debate-rallying-cry-supporters-rcna159480)

He self test his cognitive ability

He demands his party fall in line with his campaign ...just like dictators do.
