Hunter Biden news . . Trump charged again . Transformers ;aliens etc etc . Clueless Joe at the beach .Congress on vaction Take your summer break .Nothing to see here

ok are you sufficiently distracted yet ?

Now's the time for the Deep State to move when you are not paying attention .

Mayor Pete's Transporation Dept is proposing new corporate average fuel economy (CAFE )standards for autos . Cars will be required to get (are you ready for this ? ) 66.4 mpg by 2032 . This is more draconian than the absurd California goals. It will effective end combustion engine autos.

Say goodbye to gas or diesel trucks also . They will need to get 54.4 mpg.

GOP readies fight against new fuel economy standards - Roll Call (https://rollcall.com/2023/08/01/gop-readies-fight-against-new-fuel-economy-standards/)

These of course are impossible standards to achieve. But the administration will begin slapping fines on automakers if the goals are not met.

How much ? Is $300 billion enough ?

GM says U.S. emissions rules could cost at least $100B billion | Automotive News (autonews.com) (https://www.autonews.com/regulation-safety/gm-says-us-emissions-rules-could-cost-least-100b-billion)

The goals will reduce CO2 emissions by 885 tons through 2050 . To put that in perspective ;it equals about half of the emissions from the Canadian wildfires.

Feds' latest fuel efficiency standards would cut 900M tons of CO2 | Grist (https://grist.org/transportation/feds-latest-fuel-efficiency-standards-would-cut-900m-tons-of-co2/)

Climate change and “environmental justice” will have to be considered in any new project review.

You propose a new gas pipeline ? Not so fast . Why not make more solar or wind farms ?

Next SEC new cyber-security rules.

This is a disclosure thingy. Public companies will be required to disclose cyber-security breaches within four days of discovering them. That could be in the middle of an investigation of the breach or before the breach is repaired .

As one commenter stated: “In the hours and days following a cybersecurity breach, companies must quickly and efficiently contain, minimize, and remedy any damage or loss resulting from the breach. Each of these measures must happen as soon as possible after a breach occurs and with the full attention of the registrant’s resources and management—especially those devoted to cybersecurity. The . . . requirement to publicly report the incident while these actions are ongoing will disrupt these crucial response measures.”[40] (https://www.sec.gov/news/statement/peirce-statement-cybersecurity-072623#_ftn40) Are you concerned that companies in the midst of a cyber-attack will be hindered in their ability to respond by having to alert the attacker about what they know about the attack?
Are you concerned that the short preparation time for the Form 8-K could result in investors receiving information that is inaccurate

If I'm the owner of a private company considering going public I would have second thoughts.

I'm sure there will be more secret regs coming our way in the coming days. Don't count on the compliant press that is 'all Trump indictment all the time' to cover them in any detail. It is these type of deep state rules that hit your wallet hardest .
