Well almost anyway. There are 49 reasons to impeach Quid Pro Joe . So Speaker McCarthy boldly pronounced .

“This is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, which provides Congress the strongest power to get the rest of the knowledge and information needed. I believe we will follow this all the way to the end. And this is going to rise to an impeachment inquiry the way the Constitution tells us to do this. And we have to get the answers to these questions.”

I suspect when they get testimony from Devon Archer that 50 threshold will be breached .

But why closed door hearing ? That smells of more cover up to me .

In a related case . Hunter's lawyer impersonated a Repub official and called Judge Maryellen Noreika in an attempt to remove a key filing in her determination to accept Hunter's plea bargain.

CNN and the compilant press went into spin control.

It was an “unintentional miscommunication”.

The dispute “appears to stem from an unfortunate and unintentional miscommunication between a staff member at our firm and employees of the Court,” Hunter Biden’s lawyers told the judge.

The Judge threatened them with sanctions. How about denying the plea deal ?:

And how did he get such a deal ? Well it helps to have love you brother's in the right place.

here is the backstory .House Ways and Means Committee filed an amicus brief to Judge Noreika arguing that the Hunterhad benefited from “political interference which calls into question the propriety of the investigation” ahead of his very generous plea deal. The filing included the testimony of the 2 IRS whistleblowers who accused the Justice Dept of fixing the investigation.in Hunter's favor .

Then it got interesting . Theodore Kittila.the lawyer for the committee sent a letter to the judge .

“[A]t approximately 1:30 p.m., we received word that our filing was removed from the docket,”. “We promptly contacted the Clerk’s office, and we were advised that someone contacted the Court representing that they worked with my office and that they were asking the Court to remove this from the docket. We immediately advised that this was inaccurate. The Clerk’s Office responded that we would need to re-file. We have done so now.”

No one from his office had called .It was instead Jessica Bengels who's firm is associated with Hunter's defense.

Details are in this NY Post report

The Judge speaks of sanctions. I think they should be slapped with obstruction charges .

Watching the Biden crime family in action is like watching 'House of Cards' .

UPDATE

Judge Noreika rejected the plea deal after she learned the deal included immunity from all future charges against him

She asked the prosecutors what additional charges They refused to answer . She asked if one of the charges was violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) .Again they refused to answer . This was the statute that Michael Flynn ,Richard Gates and Paul Manafort were both convicted on.

Hunter plead not guilty . For now it will go to trial . But in the next month a new deal could be made. I bet there will be.

Now about his corrupt lawyers . .....Would debarment be out of the question?

Another thought. All this would not have gone down this way if not for the IRS whistleblower testimony and yesterday's dirty trick being caught

There may be a wink and a nod that they need a month to cool things down before they go ahead with the plea deal

I'll believe everything is up and up when the process unfolds

Pretty clever of AG Garland to appointDavid Weiss the US attorney from Delaware; who made a sweetheart plea deal with Hunter ;and allowed certain crimes by Hunter to pass the statute of limitations , to be the special council for the Hunter cases.

Hunter Biden: US attorney leading Hunter Biden criminal probe is now a special counsel after plea talks break down and a trial looms | CNN Politics (https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/11/politics/hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment-merrick-garland/index.html)

He is looking to change the venue to one more favorable for Hunter where Judge Maryellen Noreika can't torpedo his deal.

Robert Hur of Maryland has previously been named as special council for the Quid Pro Joe documents case. The two prosecutors have worked closely together in the past .

Not to worry . Sen D*ckhead Durbin says that Garland is going out of his way to avold the appearance of politization .

"And President Biden’s decision to keep Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss on in Delaware when he was sworn-in stands in stark contrast to former President Trump’s repeated efforts to use the Justice Department and Attorney General as his personal lawyer," Durbin said in a statement.
"U.S. Attorney David Weiss is a distinguished prosecutor, and I trust that the Justice Department’s professional, nonpartisan approach will carry on as the Special Counsel continues his investigation."

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland appoints special counsel in Hunter Biden case (yahoo.com) (https://news.yahoo.com/u-attorney-general-merrick-garland-174736612.html)

Note they always highlight when a judge of prosecutor was a Trump appointment . You see ;the Dems just assume that a judge or an appointed prosecutor is a party hack because that is how the Dems determine who to appoint.

CNBC
Trump-appointee David Weiss named special counsel in Hunter Biden probe as DOJ calls for trial

The Senate has a long standing policy under it's 'advice and consent' authority, that Senators from the state have a key role in the selection process . In this case Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons, both Democrats, gave the thumbs up. This is called the 'Blue Slip ' process..

Explaining the Senate’s Blue Slip Proces... | United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary (https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/press/dem/releases/explaining-the-senates-blue-slip-process)

So yeah Weiss was a Trump appointee ,as you will hear every Dem and liberal talking head on the news . Now you know the rest of the story .

Garland when called to Congress will claim he cannot comment on an ongoing investigation . Quid will not comment in between trips to the beach.

If McCarthy is serious about impeachment ;now is the time.

Even Jake Tapper agrees with your assessment.

"I think there are some legitimate questions about this whole situation," Tapper said on "CNN News Central." "First of all, I do think it’s fair to question why would U.S. Attorney Weiss be appointed to special counsel. Usually, a special counsel is an outside attorney. Now, it has happened before. Durham came from inside, and the attorney general has the right to do that, but it is odd."

hmm was not aware that Durham had been a prosecutor in the Russia-gate matter before he was appointed . I was not aware that Durham had any role in the Russia-gate probe until he was appointed by Barr . Tapper is slick . There is no comparison .

Durham was appointed as acting US attorney for Connecticut by Bubba.

You are right in that the objection to Weiss is that he has a previous connection to the HB case which clearly calls into question his ability to be impartial. That was not true of Durham.

Glenn Greenwald: "No matter how you slice it... the polls show that there's only one person who's likely to challenge Joe Biden and defeat him for reelection, and that's the person whom Biden's DOJ happens to be prosecuting in multiple cases...Not just cases that have been brought but ones that rely on highly dubious interpretations of the law. It's not like these are murder cases, rape cases, bribery cases, or things people traditionally think about when they hear of criminal accusations. They're very distant and vague accusations that depend a lot on free speech rights, and they will only worsen perceptions that the DOJ can't be trusted...The first book I wrote in 2005 was an argument that the Bush and Cheney administration had committed obvious war crimes like torture, rendition, and warrantless spying on Americans...The entire DC class agreed with Obama saying only banana republics prosecute their political opposition, and that was for real crimes like torture, kidnapping, killing people, and spying without warrants. Not these kinds of attenuated theories of criminality on which the Biden DOJ is now relying on to prosecute Trump, their primary political opposition...At exactly the same time the Biden administration is prosecuting Donald Trump, they are also shielding Hunter Biden, who is guilty of far more blatant and obvious criminality, just blatant political corruption, tax evasion, and hiding assets in a way that most people go to jail for many years. And Hunter Biden gets this incredibly generous deal that was so shocking to the judge because she couldn't believe that the DOJ was really offering him full-scale immunity, given how many other crimes are pending. And given how he was allowed to plead guilty to misdemeanors for what she has seen treated as serious felonies...The relevant metric now isn't left versus right. It's anti-establishment versus pro-establishment. Namely, do you think the loss of trust that these institutions of authority have suffered is valid or not? Do you think that they deserve the contempt in which they are held by a large portion of the population? I believe it's absolutely justified to hold them in contempt...That's the fundamental distinction that defines our political spectrum more than old definitions of left versus right."@ggreenwald (https://twitter.com/ggreenwald)

I think it only fair that if the government can judge shop in the Biden crime family cases that Trump should be able to do the same.

To think that the Dems demanded that Jeff Sessions recuse himself from the investigation of the Russia hoax lies about Trump .
