Did the people of California really vote to ban the sale of any car except for electric cars in the state by 2035 ? Of course they did not . This was a decision dictated by the permanent bureaucracy of the state .It is a decision made solely by the California Air Resources Board. California is a one party dictatorship so they will get away with it

Under the previous Dem clown Guv of the State of Virginia , Ralph Northam, a law was passed last year that tied Virginia's regulatory state to take whatever the California Air Resources Board, adopts . As of today Virginia is committed to the same disastrous path of California. The state takes it's marching orders from an agency in a state on the other side of the country .

Decoupling from California’s path would require “an amendment or repeal of the mandating legislation,”

Can they change it ? Maybe .
Governor Youngkin has vowed to not let it happen .

Governor Glenn Youngkin on Twitter: "My statement on untying Virginia from California’s EV rule: https://t.co/BWSQKSgN4V (https://twitter.com/GovernorVA/status/1563305358067527681) https://t.co/MK3mNKPyBb" / Twitter

It will be a tough row to hoe. Auto manufactures saw the writing on the wall and favor the transition. They know that with mandates they will see their investment in EV development pay off.

What do the consumers get ? They get to purchase expensive cars with limited range ;that are a fire hazard

Oh yeah ;and to replace the battery is prohibitively expensive .

Consumer choice ? Not a chance if banks refuse to finance any car except EVs as is happening in Aussie .

Bank Will End Loans for New Gas and Diesel Cars, Buyers Will Only Get Loans for Right Decision (westernjournal.com) (https://www.westernjournal.com/bank-will-end-loans-new-gas-diesel-cars-buyers-will-get-loans-right-decision/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=conservativetribune&utm_content=2022-08-27&utm_campaign=manualpost&fbclid=IwAR3EkpFM-qMWzBis33ScXBaEkvDLnI7F7nmDvH_kJkz8k_doMeJpnWtA-3c)

The infrastructure for this transition will be centered in urban areas . The autos range will prevent the mobility we have come to expect. The goal of the left to further move away from the choice of living in flyover country will effectively be achieved. And all of this will happen without a single vote of the people .

Not surprising ; after the State trumpeted it's EV mandate ;the California grid operators are warning that if Californians charge their EVs during peak hours it will overwhelm the grid .

Other voluntary energy usage cuts are being advised also including setting thermostats to 78 degrees .
That's because the demand for energy is high and there just isn't enough sun to power California's needs .

So Guv Newsom is ordering the temporary loosening of regulations that will allow gas fired plants to run full tilt . His edict also allows businesses to use fossil fuel powered back up generators.

The state legislature is considering extending Diablo Canyon nuke plants past their scheduled 2025 shut down.

So does California have the infrastructure or the generating capacity to usher in this brave new world of all EV transportation ?

What I see is a lot of people calling in to work saying they can't make it in because there is a brown out and I can't charge my car.

Californians just amaze me. They seem to be so comfortable with being subservient to a an outrageous government.

Pew Research reports that 59% of Americans oppose the California 2035 mandate .

So of course more blue states are signing on .

Governor Murphy announces rule requiring electric car sales - New Jersey Monitor (https://newjerseymonitor.com/briefs/governor-murphy-announces-rule-requiring-electric-car-sales/)

They are so unpopular that dealers are refusing new deliveries of EVs

Dealers Are Turning Away Electric Cars As Demand Cools (businessinsider.com) (https://www.businessinsider.com/dealers-turning-away-evs-velectric-cars-demand-cools-inventory-2023-8)

So the Dem solution is to criminalize gas powered vehicles. Typical progressive solution .

Not to worry . There are no plans to ban the sale of used cars ........yet

We could end up like Cuba driving ancient cars that have a new paint job. We could even romanticize it and call it the new classic car culture

VinFast ;a Vietnam EV maker got subsidies $1,2 billion from North Carolina to build a plant in the state .

VinFast receives $1.2 billion in incentives for US manufacturing hub in North Carolina | VinFast (vinfastauto.us) (https://vinfastauto.us/newsroom/press-release/vinfast-receives-12-billion-in-incentives-for-us-manufacturing-hub-in-north)

How's that working out ?

The company has net losses of over $5 billion since 2021 ....$623 million this summer alone.

VinFast’s losses continue to mount, officials still optimistic (carolinajournal.com) (https://www.carolinajournal.com/vinfasts-losses-continue-to-mount-officials-still-optimistic/)

The goal was to ship 50-60 thousand EVs this year. So far they have shipped 21,000 through September ......60% to themselves (to Green and Smart Mobility, a rental and taxi company owned by VinFast’s parent organization, Vingroup.)
