Hi Experts,
Have been trying to remember the band and song? When I hear "Turn the Page" I am also reminded of the song about "crocodills knocking on your back door telling you it's time you moved out". Not sure of the band or the lyrics. But I understand that it is a song about encroachment. Have tried googling it but haven't found the right song. I'm beginning to think that I have remember something wrong. Please help me to remember!

You mentioned CCR in your title... You're not thinking of Looking Out My Backdoor? Although no mention of crocks.

Since we haven't heard from AceHigh in over a month, I'm guessing he's headed out the backdoor along with the croc's...

Sorry about the lack of response. I appreciate the experts opinions. I didn't mean to say that the song "Turn the Page" and my remember the other song were done by the same author. The tape I had made for me was a compilation of songs and the "Turn the Page" was a song on the tape also. Sorry about the confusion. The song turns out to be done by Jim Stafford. -- Ace

JIM STAFFORD THE LAST CHANT LYRICS
Listen at night and hear the sounds
As the swamp moves in and settles down.
Shadows move, see the cypress frown?
Swamp don't want you hangin' round.
Ocher Bocher, what 'cha doin' tonight?
Goin' out huntin' with a gun and a flashlight?
Why you shoot a gator when you know he's such a sight?
He said, "I never met a handbag I didn't like."
Swamp'll get you every time, a tourist can't resist.
They love it when you lead 'em 'round - "I wonder what is this?"
That's just a clingin' vine, ma'am, don't you make a racket.
They just wind around your ankle here,
Take a stick and whack it.
Highways, byways, souvenir stands
Eat here. Gas up! Campin' Vans!
We got ten thousand new attractions planned
With mechanical animals and mechanical friendsszzz
You just keep draggin' my swamp water down
Move to Florida! We'll build you a town!
Poor swamp creatures runnin' everywhere around
Never knowin' if they're going to drop or drown.
Sometimes I wonder what you'd do
If the swamp moved in on you?
Scratched on your screen, slipped down your waterspout
Tapped you on the shoulder and said "YOU move out!"

I was obviously confused as to what I had remember from my early 80's. Was a song I enjoyed and was trying to remember who created it. I do thank all who answered my query. It was a hard search because I couldn't remember it very well. But thanks for trying. Ace

Well that's goin' back aways - and I sometimes have trouble remembering last Year! Didn't Stafford also do that "I don't like spiders and snakes" song? Just curious, now that we've got a reptile theme going on. Lol

JIM STAFFORD JIM STAFFORD - SPIDERS AND SNAKES LYRICS
Jim Stafford
I remember when Mary Lou said
'You want to walk me home from school'
And I said, 'Yes, I do'
She said, 'I don't have to go right home
And I'm the kind that likes to be alone
As long as you would'
I said, 'Me, too'
And so we took a stroll
Wound up down by the swimmin' hole
And she said, 'Do what you want to do'
I got silly and I found a frog
In the water by a hollow log
And I shook it at her
And I said 'This frog's for you'
She said...
Chorus:
'I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool

I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you'
Well, I think of that girl from time to time
I call her up when I got a dime
I say, "Hello, baby'
She says, 'Ain't you cool'
I say, 'Do you remember when?
And would you like to get together again?'
She says, 'I'll see you after school'
I was shy and so for a while
Most of my love was touch and smile
Til she said, 'Come on over here'
I was nervous as you might guess
Still looking for something to slip down her dress
And she said, 'Let's make it perfectly clear'
She said...
