I am an F1 student studying in New York and right now I am on my CPT doing internship in Texas. My company has told me to fill W4 but I am confused about the fields.

What should be there in 5,6,7 ?

Please help me. Also, do I have to fill State Tax Form ? I am naïve in this area.

Let's make this simple: Since you are an international student, you are limited as to how many allowances you can claim.

If you are SINGLE, claim SINGLE with only ONE allowance.

If you are MARRIED, claim MARRIED with only TWO allowances.

The rest of the Form W-4 does not apply in your case.

Claim similarly for the state form.
