I applied for ITIN for my daughter with first year choice statement. I claimed her as dependent and claimed child tax credit. I filed for extension and waited until she becomes a resident alien for 2017 and then paper filed my return along with W7, required documents and attached first year choice statement.

Within a week I received the ITIN assigned letter and the original documents in two days after that. My tax return status on where is my refund started showing as "Return Received" for 3 days and for last 2 days the Bar disappeared and it has a generic message saying

"Your return is still being processed. Refund date will be provided when available"

With Tax Topic 152 - Refund informarion

I am not sure what this status means and I am not sure why my bars disappeared. Based on 152 instructions I can only contact them after 6 weeks for paper filing. I am really nervous. Could someone please tell me whether I should be worried or what this status means.

Appreciate your time and Thanks for your help.

Do not worry; you WILL get your refund eventually.

The time it takes to manually process tax returns is a LOT longer this year than in the past due to budget cuts and manpower shortages. What used to take 6 weeks can take up to six months.
