Hi

The film was probably made in the late 80's / early 90's.

I'm trying to find the name of a film I saw as a child on TV.

It may be American, Canadian or Australian as far as I can tell.

It was a childrens' film, maybe a made-for-TV movie, I'm not sure.

It was a bit similar to Stand by Me, but not as good.

The leading child actor had a thing with baseball, I think he mentions Willie Mays quite often.

I think there was a retired old man called Willie, with a hat and beard.

The kid who was a friend with the ol man asks him something like: "Willie, how many miles are there in the world?". Or maybe it was 'words' instead of 'miles'. I think they also name a specific number to that question, though I can't remember.

There may have also been some old house with scary rumours surrounding its inhabitants, but I might be confusing it with another film.

The leading kid star in the film had another child friend who was really good in running. I think he wore a white t-shirt, drank root beer and spat once in while, I remember him constantly chewing gum or something.

That's pretty much all I remember about this film right now. I would really love to find the name and see this film again.

Thank You!
