I got a 2008 Mazda B4000 in December. Truck is fine except that it's difficult shift into first or second gear from a stop, or when decelerating. Sometimes I have to move the stick toward second and then back toward first to get it to go into gear. I have two 300ZX Turbos, and I can shift smoothly and effortlessly in all gears with the Borg Warner T5.
I thought maybe the clutch free play needed to be adjusted. However, when I looked under the dash at the pedal shaft, there was no locknut to make the adjustment. It is fully self adjusting. Clutch fluid level is normal.
Some people say it's just the way there Ford Ranger and Mazda truck transmissions are. Drivers in other forums describe similar symptoms. I am thinking otherwise though.
