I recently signed an offer letter from a private employer and will begin 05/01/17 barring the results of a background check. The screening company conducts a 7 year search and I have one misdemeanor within that time frame (DWI arrest in Nov. 2008 and conviction in Mar. 2010, but squeaky clean since 2008 ). I'm sure the screening search will see the conviction and in the past I've always divulged the information to potential employers, but this time the opportunity never presented itself. Should I just come clean to the hiring manager now, or wait to deal with it when the information becomes available to the hiring company? Just looking for some solid advice.

Thank you in advance.

Are you sure you were not asked about any felony convictions at any time? What is the nature of the job?

Don't divulge. The conviction was just over 7 years ago.
I would have said don't divulge anyway, in general, unless you are specifically asked about "any conviction."
Some of my answer would depend on the nature of the job.
I would have police reports on hand in the event that it is asked about. How much was in your system, whether anyone was hurt, etc., documented.

I was never asked about any convictions/criminal history at any point, and the conviction in my case is a class B misdemeanor. The position is a construction superintendent wherein I will not be driving a company vehicle.

I was sentenced over 7 years ago, but did not complete probation until March 2011.

Thank you for your input

I think you will get the job, would not divulge, and think the old conviction will pass, if it shows up. It might not.
