I just received dna test that I paid for myself for a child that lives in Washington state I live in Florida.. My check been garnished for this child that's now ten.. The dna test results says I'm not the father I talked to a case worker that is over my case he says that I pretty much still have to pay child support since its been so long... Is there anything else I can do to get this taking care.. or it being removed from my case.. I am also not on the birth certificate...

I worked for 6 months as a Child Support worker in California... I do know that you should NOT be paying child support for a child that is not yours... I would contact legal aid as they may help you, every state is different but start there... they could at least refer you. Also there are lawyers that work (pro bono, which is free) and one of them may help you. I sure hope you pursue this matter as it involves your financial situation now and your future... Good luck, God bless... let me know what you find out... I care.

I too would advise first trying the path of least resistance. And, that would be concerning money. I would be consulting legal aid.

Something that you find on the following sites may also be of help to you. I hope that they are.

Why did you wait 10 years to do a DNA test? If you are not on the birth certificate as the father, how did you start paying child support? And the real question is do you have visitation with this child? Some states, whether you are the biological father or not, if you have been acting as the father and that's the only father that child knows will award child support.

The child support workers main goal is to bring in money (as much as possible) period. In my state NC this is actually their mission statement. It says nothing about any fairness or honesty. Do not trust these people they will deceive you, in order to get a case paying.
