Hello,
I want to research personal experiences of what made your relationship end. Or if you know any other causes of the break ups please let me know. It is for my writing.
Some of the general reasons I figured out are:
Doubts (Mistrust)
Interest in someone else
Can't settle with each other
Something else??
Thanks! This is quite important for my work. I appreciate your time!

These are usual reasons that happen in any relationships. I am looking for a rare reason. Why would you leave your partner if you had to for the betterment of your partner?

Unusual reasons:
Partner is in a coma unlikely to recover
Partner became a paraplegic when his chute failed jumping out of a plane
Partner was unable to bare children

Both partners have changed and are no longer willing to work with each other to resolve whatever their issues are.
Love has turned to hate.
They never should have gotten together in the first place and the lust is gone and there was just no love to keep it going.
Life destroyed whatever love there was, or they were a lousy couple to begin with, or simply priorities change and they grow apart.
The list goes on and on if you think about it.

I'm puzzled that you didn't ask for rare situations from the start... but anyway, 'if you had to for the betterment of your partner,' the most frequent example of that in the US is because of medical conditions that cost so much that one spouse needs to go on welfare.

Wasn't mature enough for long term relationship.
apathy towards relationship
Relationship speed and fear of commitment.
Family pressure/peer pressure
Sexual orientation. Partner came out as bi, homo, poly.
relationship style, monogamy, polyamory,
sexual issues: Kink mismatch, sexual dysfunction, lack of intimacy
religious/faith reasons.
Life stlye change: lost job/income/children/natural disaster
Look at movies where the lovers conqueror all and realize that for every situation like that, there are many that will fail.

Marriages/relationships have collapsed once a person has realized that their partner's sexual orientation/lifestyle doesn't fit their own.

Sometimes you just wake up and decide they aren't traveling down the same road with the same destination you are on...
Which literally means...you realize you just aren't that good a match. Because up until then you were hoping they would change...or the laws of physics in the universe would suddenly not apply.
THere really doesn't NEED to be a reason other than someone suddenly feels different towards the other. Then its over.
