Since I am now the Lady of the house, I have a question about a box of soap that my wife used, called Oxi-Clean. It is open and it has become almost as hard as concrete. Have been chipping away at it with a screwdriver. Is it still usable, it is a 12.5 pound box and approx. 11 pounds remain. I have been using liquid det. And did not notice the box for about 1.5 years until I wanted something stronger in the area of stain removal and brightness. Since I have a front loader, it says to put the powder in before the clothes. Have been using the easy way with the soap dispenser and liquid. What say you washing machine pro's?

Break it up in chunks, put the chunks in a blender and break those up and refill the box... will work just as good as a fresh box. Just remember to put the blender in the dishwasher before you use it again.

Dump chunks into the wash they may or may not break up before the load finishes.

Did that with the powdered dish-washing detergent as well as powdered laundry detergent over the years a few times.

DON'T sit powdered detergent on a concrete floor. Moisture seeps up and causes that.

I prefer liquid, but put chunks in boiling water, and make it into a liquid, if you want to use it. Or of course throw it out and just keep buying new liquid.

Put chunks in a plastic bag and beat the crap out of it as needed.

Feel better?
