My roommate/landlord paid all utilities for a while. I did not ask him to, he just did. Now that I am moving out 2 yrs later he is asking for the money back, but never has before. Trying to say that because he paid my part the house almost went into foreclosure, yet he never told me any of this till now. Do I owe him? We live in nashville Tennessee, davidson county.

Did you sign anything saying you would pay a portion of the utilities? I suggest you document everything that is happening just to be on the safe side.

If you were supposed to pay the utilities and didn't, then you own him. Why didn't you pay them?

No contract or lease was ever signed. I did pay in the beginning, but then he stopped asking for the bill money and never told me the amounts.

In that case you don't owe anything. If you don't have a written agreement to pay the utilities. If he stopped asking you for the money and the utilities were not in your name, then he screwed up and you don't owe him anything.
Let him try to sue you.
