Such questions can be answered by reading a text on accounting fundamentals or basic bookkeeping. A general journal is a an account book ruled in four columns; date, narration/account names, debit, credit with additional colunms added for account number, references, check and other data as required. You first have to understand that the debit column is the one closest to the door when seated facing north.
