Assalam you alaikum.
I have been bothered by something very much lately!I have been singing milli songs and reciting naats since my childhood and have always been appreciated a lot.But when I got admission in university and got chances to sing on several events, I refrained myself from doing that knowing I have been forbidden by my religion. My friends and my sister knowing I have a beautiful voice keep on persuading me to show the world what talent I have got. And there's this thing too, that the only thing I think I have full command on, is singing.I am not very much good at any other thing as this. I don't understand that why Allah has given me a gift ,a talent, a special trait which is not given to many people, and forbade me strictly to use it. The thing I am best at is a sin. I hope you have understood my question. I want you to convince me and remove my confusions regarding singing, so that I can practise my religion without any doubts and confusions.
Thank you!

Music and Singing Haram? (http://www.themodernreligion.com/misc/hh/music.html)

There seems to be a time, place, and manner that allows you to express yourself within your religion, but the counsel and guidance of your local Iman(s) should be sought in this matter.
