I have a water well which feeds into a 40 gallon Water Worker Pressure Tank. I replaced the pressure switch and in so doing the pressure in the tank was lost (?). After installing the new switch, the water pressure in the house is very low plus I have not heard the pressure switch come on, even though it is receiving electricity.

My question is since the pressure was released when I pulled the old switch do I need to reset the pressure by putting in air in the top of the tank (which has a input valve on it)? Also how much pressure should it read if guaged from that input valve?

Further, I am not sure, but I believe the pressure gauge which is actually on the inlet line prior to the pressure switch usually read appx. 30 psi. Now it is reading nearly 0psi?

Help!

Check the pressure at the top of the tank. You should have pressure there. If you don't, then it is likely the bladder in the tank is ruptured. If you still have pressure there, then that should be set at 2# below the cut on pressure for your new switch.

Why did you change the switch?

If you have at least some pressure in the house, then the pump must be coming on at least some. Is this new switch a digital switch? If so, then I don't think you will hear it clicking on and off since it does not work that way. It likely has a digital readout you can check.

One last question. Is the pump in the well, or above ground?
