Brought in my 2001 Chevy to dealer/service center. REcall involves ignition
Switch, key gets stuck, etc. They gave me a key ring... I mean it, a key ring
And said don't put anything else on the keyring. No weight. What about
The switch. No, we don't have to change that.

How can I speak to a human being at GM? What department would make
The most sense?

It appears to be true that they dont have to change the switch in your car.

Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2005 Malibu Classic, 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Actions: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. Weird. I had (just traded it in) a 2008 Malibu that had this recall, yet that year isn't on your list. I never took the car in for any of the 3 recalls it had.

There were two different kinds of ignition recalls on GM cars.
One more serious.
Take it to another dealer. Any dealer has to handle it.
Airbags have a warning dashboard light when they aren't working anymore.

And when I gave them mine they said it did not qualify for a new switch. I
Figured out why some did and some don't. Those who had crashes qualified
And those of us who haven't crashed our cars don't get another switch. Do I
Sound way off?? Why else would someone with a Malibu, same model and
Year qualify and some don't. My mechanic would put in a new one for me,
But he'd probably get it from Chevy and it could be defective. I'm getting
