"95 Yoyota Avalon:One dayI couldn't get key to turn more than 1 posistion forward. It was like hitting a brick wall. It won't allow car to be started. Is this the ignition cylinder lock, or ignition switch? It only moves 1 posistion. Is ignition switch & ignition lock cylinder the same animal.or are those 2 separate components? On my '97 Camry, ignition would turn completely, however nothing would happen. This 95 just stops at 1st posision. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like it could be either a worn ignition key or lock cylinder or both. Have you checked to make certain the steering wheel hasn't locked onto the pin and thus preventing the ignition switch from being turned? Give that a check and let us know.

It's an ignition lock problem. Try spraying the inside lock mechanism with WD-40; if no joy, replace the lock.
