You can buy a door seal kit at many appliance parts stores or order them off the Internet. For example: Frost King E/O 17 ft. Magnetic Door Seal Replacement Kit-MDS17HA - The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-E-O-17-ft-Magnetic-Door-Seal-Replacement-Kit-MDS17HA/100586998)
Those old refrigerators will last forever. All you need to do is to replace rotten wiring or door seals at times. Keep it.

Or retire the poor old thing and spend the money on a new one.

I would never do that because those old ones will run forever, much longer than a new one will run, plus they use very little energy. One day you may need it.
