I am looking to replace the timer on my water softener system because it is leaking. Are the threads on the resin tank a standard size across different brands? I ask because I do not want to replace the entire system, just the timer & the resin beads.

I have worked on a couple of them and the threads were standard pipe thread.

Threads should be standard size, just make sure you get the right size of the pipe (diameter).

So I am asking about the threads that enter into the tank (the timer itself is screwed into the tank), not the supply pipe threads. I just want to make sure before moving forward. Thank you for your time & attention.

Now I'm not sure what you need. Male and female pipe threads are cut American Standard Pipe Thread in pipe size 1/2, 3/4, 1", 1 1/4 and 1 1/2" up. A pipe thread is tapered so the more you thread, the tighter it gets. A picture would sure help.
