I had completely natural (undyed)color-blondish, reddish, light brown. A lot of different hues. Long, extremely thick hair. I decided to dye it spiced medium auburn. We uses 3 boxes because of the length and thickness. Coverage was great but it is very dark auburn-strong red pulling through but all over at least. I know that red fades quickly and that it will tame down but I keep reading to use Prell shampoo to speed it along and also to possibly run an ash brown through it to help calm down the red. Any ideas?? I do not want to strip the color out but if I do use an additional color-do I buy 3 boxes again or will 1 do just to help correct. HELP??

It's true. Red hair color fades faster than any other color. Hair color will gradually fade every time you shampoo your hair. However, you can accelerate to fading process by also using Head & Shoulders or a clarifying shampoo with very warm water. If you want to neutralize the red tones in your hair, you can use the ash brown hair color. Leave the color mixture on for ten minutes then rinse it out. This should calm down the red tones in your hair.
