Hi there-
I have a bathroom vanity with outlet that I would like to replace for something 1- safe and 2- more attractive. With that said, I am a bit confused about what I am going to find when I take this down. Will I be able to pull whatever wires are there down lower and install a GFCI outlet to be at code? I replaced a kitchen outlet with a GFI but as this is wired to the mirror and not an outlet itself, I am wondering if it will be as obvious or if I need to call an electrician.
Thanks in advance!
Having done more research, I should add that the outlet only functions when the light is on so perhaps it is simply a light wire and I really shouldn't mess with this at all.
I am currently thinking, cap the wires, put in a light and have an electrician properly install a GFCI outlet elsewhere in the bathroom.
