My MOENIQUE is a 40+ year old ONE PIECE tub/shower/soap dish fixture. I am trying to remove it to replace with new replacement service kit (moen #14292). I am able to disassemble everything except I cannot find what is holding the spout containing the diverter (part of the one piece casting). It is not a slip joint (no access hole in the bottom of the casting), and no visible way of releasing the bottom of the casting to access any threaded joint between the water pipe and the one piece tub/shower/soap dish casting which incorporates the built in spout and divertor.
The only possibility I can see is that the ENTIRE casting screws off, which would mean I must rotate the entire casting to remove it. I am very hesitant to just twist the casting without knowing that there a threaded joint holding the water pipe feeding the diverter.
My question boils down to---how is the water pipe attached to the one piece fixture? I have tried researching Moen customer service by phone,Google search and asked several local plumbers, including remodeling specialists and have gotten no help. They all say it's too old to have any information on.
