I recd notice that my old Chevy recalled due to faulty ignitiion. Apparently many
People died when on impact something happened to the ignitiion and also the
Airbags didn't work.

I called the place that handles this... a car dealer with a service center for
Chevy's and they told me to just use my key and take off any weight like
House keys or remote, etc. They said they will give me key ring or key
Cover, I forget now... but that was it and even that they had no supply
Of.

This is pretty scary. I really don't want to get rid of the car because it belonged
To someone in her 80's so I have low mileage and the price was right.
Where an I go for legal advice.

I would call the General Motors recall notice office which sent you the recall notice. Tell them that your local dealer wants to avoid doing the recall work and that you want them to investigate. Follow up with a letter, copied to the dealer. That should force the dealer to take its duties seriously.

Here is a web site that provides info on the ignition switch recall: GM Ignition Update - United States - Home (http://www.gmignitionupdate.com/product/public/us/en/GMIgnitionUpdate/index.html)

I don't see any Chevy trucks that are actually involved in the recall - are you sure your truck is affected? The recommendation to remove items from the key ring is to reduce weight, and reduce the likelihood of a problem occurring. But that's just a short-term thing until the switch is replaced under the recall. If you are unhappy with the dealer response call the customer assistance number for Chevrolet - from the web site I referenced above the number is 1-800-222-1020.

Thank you for getting back to me. It's not a truck. It's the Chevy Malebu 2000
I will try the number you gave me and check their website. Thanks again
