Turn the water off at the main house valve or at the meter box.

Where can I find the main house valve?

Where the water comes into your house. In the US, it is typically just inside the wall, connected to a 3/4 or 1" pipe, should be a gate valve and maybe a pressure reducer.

Have you tried shutting off your main for the whole house?

No way to change a cartridge without shutting off the water. The main shut off should be on the front street side of the basement.

It is possible that your shut off is outside in your yard near the edge of the road. Look for a flush to the ground box. You can call your water supplier and ask where/how to locate the shut off.

Hello Shayes,

I agree with Bob you can't change a cartridge without shutting off the water, also if tell us the brand and the model number of you shower valve because some shower valves has hot and cold shut offs installed in faucet valves, or a picture will work, Thanks.

John
