I'm not sure where they're stored, but I know there are quite a few programs out there that will find them for you.
Just search Google for "password recovery" and take your pick!
I take it you just mean the ones that windows "asterixes out"!

What passwords are stored and where depends on the password. The passwords that are stored for WEB sites is stored in an encrypted area (not in msconfig). Even if I knew where, I would not tell you. That would be unethical.
If you have forgotten a stored password, you can logon go to the sites profile area and change the password, making a note of it.
Passwords for specific programs on your system are stored by the program, so there is no one central area for all passwords.
