A small amount of water came out of the tube of my hot water.heater. Is this a problem?

Hi Donna
Keep an eye on the tube (I believe you are talking about the pipe that comes out of the temperature and pressure relief valve (T&P) at the top or the side of the water heater) and see if it continues to drip. If the dripping stops, great. If the dripping does not stop it could mean that you simply need to replace the T&P valve as it is defective, or, if you have an expansion tank associated with the water heater the diaphragm may have broken and in this case the expansion tank and the T&P valve need to be replaced.
Finally, if the water continues to drip out the pipe, it could also be that you have an excessive temperature condition (or excess pressure issue) and in that case you have a more serious issue and that will need to be addressed ASAP.
Start by observing the pipe again... hopefully, just a fluke. Consult us as you need!
