Hi . I'm trying to locate a drainpipe from top floor and came across this. What kind of pipe is this and what is the piece the pope is going into? Imgur (http://imgur.com/1foKA5L)

HI khabs and welcome, could that be a booster fan for maybe a dryer vent or kitchen stove exhaust fan?

The kitchen is on the other side of the house so I doubt it's the exhaust fan. The dryer is kind of close.

I cut out this part of the ceiling because I measured out where the 2nd floor toilet would be. I think it's about 5 foot off from the section I cut out because I didn't want to cut out the part of ceiling in the bedroom (the part I cut out was in the closet). I'm thinking I'm real close to where the drain pipe should be but not sure if this is it.

I could cut out the exact part of the ceiling where the toilet is - but I would like to avoid that if possible to avoid damaging the drywall :)

The small one looks like a bath vent or dryer vent. Did you ever have any Radon mitigation done?

That is a question you should be asking of the old owner or review the disclosure form, your agent should have done it. Could also be input air for your fireplace.
