View Full Version : Water evaporated from push button toilet, won't fill now

We have a vacation condo and this happened once before but we cannot remember how we fixed it. The water evaporated from the tank and bowl of the push button toilet. If we fill the tank with water, it will flush once but it won't fill back up. It seems to me that it was an easy, quick fix, but it's been so long we can't remember. Is there some sort of a reset button?

Is stop valve underneath the tank open or closed?

We just leave it "as is" so it should still be open. As soon as we figure this out, again, I'm going to write it down.

No reset button, but more likely is that the fill valve has some sediment caught up in it, or the guts of the fill valve have seized up from not being used. I would suggest cleaning or replacing the toilet fill valve... actually a quick/cheap job to do. Go to YouTube and type in replace or repair toilet fill valve and see what you think, OK?

Follow Mark's instructions. Also, replace flopper too. Water usually don't evaporate. It seems to me the flopper is not holding water. If that toilet is not in use for extended period of time, turn off the valve under the toilet to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks for the input. It makes sense. I'll have my husband take care of that.

Thanks! I never knew about the shut off valve. Good to know so we don't keep having this issue.
