Hi. I am trying to change my p trap. I however can not get the wall pipe to come out like they so easily do in the diy videos. The nut is off. I'm using metal. Any suggestions?

Was there a nut to loosen at the connection at the wall? If not, then you may have a ptrap that is soldered to copper... can only be heated off using a torch.
If you have a soldered trap you could cut the pipe and use a tubular clamp to attach a new ptrap, but it is not an ideal solution.
Back to you...

You can always use Fernco fitting or similar rubber coupling to join new and old pipe. It is a life saver. It is an easy fix and works all the time.

What do you mean? If you need a cartridge puller you don't have a stem and washer, you need a new cartridge. If you have a stem and washer you don't need a cartridge puller?
Tell us, show us, what you are doing? What kind of faucet, single or two handle? What brand?
