I'm a girl in 6th grade and I admire a boy in my grade. Well if you say I'm too young to be in a relationship then that's fine. I'm doing good in school and I'm known for being a responsible person. People know me as very crazy and a dependable. It's really hard to become friends with this boy and he's really shy. He barely talks. Can someone help me? It seems like he's extremely scared of me and tends to avoid me. I've tried saying hi, but then he looks at me and walks away. I really like his personality and want to learn more about him.

You like his personality, but what is it? You said he's shy and afraid of you and avoids you. This is a winning personality? (Psssst, boys don't "discover" girls until maybe 8th grade. We develop sooner hormonally.)

Thank you for answering. I never noticed that until now I guess I was wrong.

Wrong about what?

The media has greatly hyped the boy/girl relationship so children are trying to emulate more adult behaviors too early. That's what is happening with you. That is why most of the responses you will get here are that you are too young. Enjoy your childhood. Talk to your parents about when they will allow you to "date".

For whatever reason he avoids you, and you must respect that despite all your liking him, he doesn't want what you want. Back off and leave him alone. Disappointing at any age, I know, but the only thing to do when you like someone that doesn't like you back the same way.

Obviously you are not too young to learn this life lesson NOW.

Stay friendly by saying hi in passing, but don't push it past that. Many boys go through a shy stage at that age, some much more so than others, especially if they are hitting puberty around then. Maybe some of the men here can describe what it was like. I got my period at age 12 and had no noticeable hormone weirdness going on, with new thoughts of sex running around my brain, nor do I think that any of my girlfriends had any either, but plenty of boys do.

Aside from that, many boys (many boys, girls, men, women!) just don't like pushy friendliness. We can't 'see' what your approach is like.
