My toilet takes a very long time to fill the tank between flushes. I have already checked that the water is turned on to the toilet. It does fill but takes a very long time.

Hello Clod,

You may have debris in the fill valve please remove the toilet tank lid check which type of fill valve do you have, see the images below, Thank.

It is similar to thefluidmaster fill valve system.

Turn off the water to the toilet. Lift the float arm and twist to the left. The top should come off. Now, holding the top down, turn on the water a bit so it can flush out any debris. Turn off the water, push the top down and turn right until it locks, turn on the water. Better?

Clod,
Certain Fluidmaster ballcocks have a filter pod that is located in the shank that is exposed below the toilet tank - right where the water supply tube connects. It is fairly simple to remove the ballcock and inspect this device - after shutting the water supply valve and draining the tank of course.
The pod, found in Pro series ballcocks, is actually a plastic, compressible spiral flute; it will reduce water hammer, and, catch / trap debris............
