I want to connect my HP laserjet 1300 to my netgear WNDR3400v2 I already installed the Netgear USB control center software on my PC, but it does not detect the printer connected to the usb port on the router. I have the latest firmware update installed on the router which is v1.0.0.38. When I run the troubleshooter it says it cannot be contacted over the network. I just want to be able to use the printer without it being connected to a specific computer on my network.

Taken from the manual:
The USB port on the router can be used only to connect USB storage devices like flash drives or hard drives.
Do not connect computers, USB modems, printers, CD drives, or DVD drives to the router USB port..

Apparently there is an optional wireless module you can get for it. But only 802.11b so you may have to downgrade your wireless speed and encryption.
