I took 4 pregnancy tests all positive. Now I got my period and negative. But I took a test last night while on my period and positive. Which is it. When I took a test this morning that was the negative one and I drank a lot of water before testing .

Did you follow the instructions EXACTLY ?

You don't want to drink a lot of water prior to testing. If you are indeed early in a pregnancy, it is more likely to dilute your urine sample enough to where a pregnancy may not register. As Curlyben asked, did you follow the directions? It is especially important to read the result within the time stated on the test... often about 3-5 minutes. If you read it later than what the test states, it may give you what appears to be a positive which could be inaccurate. Is this period like what you would normally expect or lighter?

If you did follow the directions carefully, it could be that you were pregnant, but then have had an early loss. Women who are trying to become pregnant, will often test sooner than most, and they will sometimes see a positive result that may become negative when a test is done at a later time. Normally these early losses would go unnoticed, but due to the advancement of being able to test earlier than a number of years ago, these early losses are now sometimes seen.

If this period is not quite the same as you would expect, or even if it is, I would wait several more days and either try another test, or better yet, see your doctor for a test there. There is a good chance your doctor will suggest having a blood test done since you have had conflicting results on urine tests.

If you do the test, correctly, a false positive is very rare. I would also have to ask, how you are testing and if you are following the instructions correctly. If you look after the time frame, it will normally show positive when it is not. You must check during the window of time, instructed.

Very early in pregnancy, it is easier to get some false negative readings.

With this confusion, perhaps going into the doctor and having them do the test would be best.
