I've been searching everywhere on the internet to find anyone who knows this movie. It's about a woman who is being followed by some stranger. At first no-one seems to believe her, including her husband.
Then, to her surprise, the woman discovers that her entire identity has been a lie. That in fact she is a woman who escaped a mental institution and created a new identity for herself based on the author of books she read while at the institution!
She discovers this when her investigations to find who is stalking her leads her back to the institution where she is suddenly grabbed by a male nurse and the female head nurse has her released and explains to the woman what her real past is. It is later discovered that the man stalking the woman was her brother all along, and that he had murdered there parents.
I don't know how much of the facts I've got right since I was a kid when I first saw this movie on television.
I'm british and I think this might have been an American movie from the eighties which was broadcast under the old 'Murder Mystery and Suspense' banner that was shown on itv in the eighties.
I can't remember anything else and would be grateful if someone could help me solve this mystery. Thanks.
