On my state gas water heater, on the top line inlet, it has an apollo water cutoff valve with thermal expansion drain line out, that drain line is dripping now and puddling up on the floor, why is it doing that now? Never has done that in the past 14 years.

Hi lawrence and welcome, have you had any plumbing work done recently? Has the water co. maybe installed a check valve at the meter? Could just be the valve gone bad. Check back and some of the pros will probably have a better answer.

Can't improve on Parttime's answer... if you are getting thermal expansion that leaks out, either work has been done that has created a "closed system" or the valve is simply defective as mentioned!

Back to you...
