Well being a non musical kind of guy-- I think the folks that will be able to help you will need more info -- such as which way your tastes run etc. I mean why rec a country song --if you hate country.
In the mean time check out the lyric`s to Sam Stone -- its one of my all time fav`s. savage
John Prine complete information database for his song, lyrics, chords, liner note, reviews, concerts and find more (http://www.jpshrine.org/lyrics/index.html)

If your into country music there is tons of country singers with fairly easy songs. Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and more. I am 17 and just got done singing The Truth by Jason Aldean for a school concert. I recommend the song not only can I relate to it, it had just the right range.

What genre do you like best?
Rap , Rock, Alternative , Country, Opera ?
And it helps if it's a song you know well .
So narrow down the field to a category or two and it
Will help .
