I am a 22 year old female. I have two children, the youngest is about to be 2. I am sexually active. I had an IUD put in a year and a half ago. A few days ago I went to check for my strings but haven't been able tto find them. My breast have been feeling more full and I have been a little nauseous. Also I've got a pain on my right side around my pelvis. It isn't as severe as it is an annoyance. It mainly hurts when I am moving. I do not know what is wrong. I do know I need to go to the doctor. But how urgent is it? I do not have insurance due to my husband losing his job.

Can either you or your husband feel the IUD? When was your last period? If it's been awhile, you might try a pregnancy test. Certainly it would be wise to see your doctor. Call them and explain the situation. Many will set up payment plans or offer a lower fee. Best to get it checked out.

Pregnancy can happen with a IUD, while it is one of the best methods (my opinion) and the one my wife and I use. They are not 100 percent.
I would suggest seeing the doctor, since "pain" while moving is not a good thing, and depending on why, is the seriousness.

My husband could not feel them either. I took a home pregnancy test just to be safe and it was negative. I had my period and it was fairly normal. It did start earlier than normal. It started on the 15 and lasted about 6 days. And is normally about 9 days long. It wasn't has heavy as usual but it also wasn't light. We did have intercourse about 2 days after my period. I normally don't cramp until a week before I start my period. But I have been getting some slight cramping for about 3 days now.
