Whatever the savage, limestone and sandstone I think

Granitic Geiess bearing high levels of iron would deteriorate. If driving by an outrcrop of gniess, and it seams to be stained orange or red, you can tell it has high iron content, and there for would not be good for building.

Granitic Gniess also has alternating bands of light and dark colord minerals, caused by dissolution and reprecipitation of minerals during the metomophic procecees. Marble, (metemorphosed limestone) also has this property.

I have never seen metemophosed sand stone (other wise known as quartzite) to have alternating light and dark bands, however, I have not seen every thing, so I could be wrong.
